Congrats to Ken Jakalski for being considered as National High School Coach of the Year for Track & Field!
At the venerable group’s recent awards ceremony, Ken (aka on this site as Cogito Ergo Zoom and Zooma Cum Laude) received this plaque:
The winner of the Coach of the Year award had a good head start on Ken: He was coaching track when Ken was speeding along on his tricycle.
Ken's wife accompanied him to the ceremony. Despite all the hoopla surrounding the event, Sue has the ability to keep things in perspective (as do all wives of 30 or more years). She leaned over to ask Ken, after hearing of the winner's 52 years of coaching at an 80% won/lost record, why are YOU here?
Ken definitely deserves all the accolades he receives-and much more. His intense desire to be the best coach he can be causes him to continue to seek the best information available from science and the experience of others.
Congrats again Cogito!
