I'm excited about 2007!

Some of my athletes have already started the season with outstanding early results in both running and jumping events, including some personal bests!

Am I worried about burnout over the long season?

Not really.

With a strength training protocol that averages only 8 reps per session (not sets, session!) and a speed training protocol, using the ASR tables, that averages about the same number of reps, I don't foresee any overtraining. No burnout. No boredom.

I do see more fun! A lot more!

Still, I do feel badly for those who have to train with ancient methods based upon old nonsense (or the "new" methods based on the same old nonsense) since research has reached the point where the “how” of faster running speed is perfectly clear.

I'm confident that the tipping point of speed training is approaching; the time when useless drills, ill-advised technique training, aerobic work for sprinters, sled-pulls, parachutes and other paraphernalia are treated like last weeks trash. Burned or buried. It may not be tomorrow, next month or next year. But it is coming!

Yes. Although it's been a bit of a battle - yes, I'm satisfied with my choice of science over nonsense.
